Helen of Troy, a global consumer products company, aimed to open a new automated facility to streamline operations across five distribution facilities into two, eliminate overflow short term leases and fully upgrade their automation technology. This new distribution facility would distributed its OXO and Hydroflask product lines nationwide.

Stream’s Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, and Distribution team assisted Helen of Troy in conducting a four-state search for available built-to-suit opportunities or existing facilities that could meet the projects requirements. Through the process, a property in the Memphis metro area, close to Helen of Troy’s other operations was identified and the team managed the full implementation of the new greenfield development.

Stream’s team also led and managed the site-specific due diligence, design and construction and the equipment coordination of the new facility. They also played a crucial role in helping Helen of Troy achieve LEED Silver certification for the building, aligning with the company’s sustainability and environmental initiatives. Despite pandemic-related challenges such as material delays and labor shortages, the project was completed in 19 months, and the team saved the company 5-7% on total construction costs.

New technologies and automation were fully integrated into the new facility and provided immediate value by improving operational control, reducing labor, and increasing fulfillment speeds. The new facility has positioned the company for continued growth and future success.
